Spermidine, 60 x 2mg capsules
2mg of spermidine from wheat germ extract per capsule. Spermidine is found naturally in foods like wheat germ, mushrooms and aged cheese, and is being studied for its role in autophagy, the cell’s clean-up and recycling system, which slows with age.
- Third-party tested
- Contains gluten (wheat germ)
- Vegan capsules
- Formulated and encapsulated in New Zealand

Animal studies, along with population studies linking spermidine-rich diets with healthy ageing, sparked the interest. Human trials so far are small.
About Spermidine
Spermidine is a naturally occurring polyamine found in foods like wheat germ, aged cheeses, and legumes. It's present in every cell in the body, and intake from food tends to decline as we get older.
Our spermidine is derived from wheat germ extract, providing 2mg of spermidine per capsule. Most human research to date has used daily doses in the 1.2–2mg range, making this a dose that sits comfortably within the studied range while staying well under the European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) upper safety intake of 6mg per day for food-derived spermidine.
We've chosen wheat germ-derived spermidine specifically because it has been used in human clinical trials and has an established food safety profile. Synthetic spermidine, by contrast, hasn't been evaluated to the same standard for human use.
Ingredients and allergen information
Active ingredient: Spermidine (from wheat germ extract 400mg, wheat, gluten) 2mg
Other ingredients: Rice flour, vegetarian capsule
Contains: Wheat, Gluten
Not suitable for people with coeliac disease or wheat allergy.
What does the research show?
Spermidine is primarily being studied for its role in autophagy, the process by which cells clear out old or damaged components and recycle them. Autophagy declines with age, and restoring it is a focus of active longevity research.
In human studies, the most commonly tested dose has been around 1.2mg per day of food-derived spermidine. Two randomised controlled trials in older adults, Wirth et al. (2018) and Pekar et al. (2021), reported improvements in memory performance after three months of supplementation.
The animal evidence has found Spermidine supplementation has extended lifespan in a range of model organisms, and the biological mechanisms are well-established. Whether these findings translate meaningfully to humans is still an open question that ongoing research is working to answer.

Who is this for?
Spermidine may be of interest to adults who are already engaged in a healthy ageing supplement routine and want to add a compound that is being actively researched for its role in cellular maintenance.
It's worth noting that spermidine is not a gluten-free product. It contains wheat germ extract and is not suitable for anyone with coeliac disease or a wheat allergy.
If you're unsure whether spermidine is appropriate for you, particularly if you have an existing medical condition or take medication, please talk to your GP or healthcare professional first.
How to use
Take 1 capsule daily, with food.
Most research on spermidine has looked at effects over periods of three months or more, so we'd suggest giving it at least that long before assessing whether it's working for you.
